A Proclamation on Martin Luther King, Jr., Federal Holiday, 2024

A Proclamation on Martin Luther King, Jr., Federal Holiday, 2024

Secretary Antony J. Blinken and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres Before Their Meeting

SECRETARY BLINKEN:  Well, let me just say briefly what a pleasure it is to be with the secretary-general, as always, but especially in this time where the United Nations is playing such a critical, vital role.  We have a lot of important things to go over, starting, of course, with Gaza and the conflict between Israel and Hamas.  I’ve seen every day what the United Nations is doing with the extraordinary courage and bravery of its people to try to make sure that people who desperately need it get the help, the assistance, the support they need – Palestinians in…

Statement from President Joe Biden on Judy Weinstein

Jill and I are devastated to learn that American Judy Weinstein is also believed to have been killed by Hamas on October 7. This tragic development cuts deep, coming on the heels of last week’s news that Judy’s beloved husband, Gad Haggai, is believed to have been killed by Hamas. We are holding Judy and Gad’s four children, seven grandchildren, and other loved ones close to our hearts.  I will never forget what their daughter, and the family members of other Americans held hostage in Gaza, have shared with me. They have been living through hell for weeks. No family…
