In today’s video update, we’ll be sharing some great news for international students studying outside of Canada.

Are you an international student performing 100% of your studies online from outside Canada? You might be eligible to apply for Post-graduation Work Permit (PGWP) once you complete the study program. Canada has extended the period when international students can follow their studies online from December 31, 2021, until August 31, 2022. The rule was initially brought into effect in 2020 due to the pandemic that gave rise to travel restrictions.
This program is suitable even for students who complete two study programs. However, the programs must have commenced between March 2020 and the summer of 2022. One more condition for the rule to be suitable is that the student must have enrolled in a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) and satisfy other necessities for acquiring a PGWP.
The course of your study period is a determining factor in your PGWP eligibility. If your study program is more than eight months and shorter than two years, the validity of the PGWP will fit with this period. If your study period lasts for above two years, you can become qualified to work in Canada for a maximum of three years under a PGWP work permit. With a PGWP, you can also find occupations anywhere in Canada. As PGWP is an open work permit, the possessor can work for any employer and take up any profession. However, please note that this work permit cannot be renewed or extended.
